Siena

Our second day in Italy took us to Siena. On our drive there we stopped at a castle that was used by the Germans as a base in WWII due to its strategically location on top of a hill. Walking around the castle gave us sweeping views of the tuscan countryside.

Siena is full of charm and, as with everywhere else in Italy, history.

For lunch we stopped at a little butcher shop where all the meat and cheese are made in house. Enrico ordered us a sampling of everything and it was amazingly delicious. We ate standing, in true Italian fashion.
After our meat and cheese snack we headed to the Siena Cathedral. This cathedral was build before the one in florence and also features a large dome and intricate facade.
